The whole world mourns the unexpected passing of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Love him or hate him, and I'm sure there are lots more of the former, there is no denying that Michael Jackson was an unsurpassable, inimitable unique icon of pop music in our age. He was truly a legend beyond his own time.
As a screen and stage persona, he was energetic and energising, innovative and innovating. Whatever he did, he marked a new standard for others to follow. In his personal life, he was a mysterious, lonely figure, who seemed much misguided as a result of his not so happy childhood and his vast wealth. His wealth did not seem enough, though, to cover his expenses. He seemed hardly human. In his own real life, he was still a persona, to the public and perhaps also to himself.
Michael Jackson has left an indelible mark on the world's stage of pop music.
